  1. 13:37, it works in this case too right? rook to f1, if taken by enemy rook, queen takes rook and mate, but if king moves, same dovetail mate.

  2. 11:38 me, as a 500: next move, me take rook!
    Levy: and you deliver checkmate
    Me: … Oh

  3. BOYYYYS. i just did a smothered mate the first time!!!
    just like how levi mentioned.
    FREKIN HELLFEELSSOGOOOD

  4. brugh i can be dominating and always stalemate

  5. These make perfect sense in the video, but idk how to apply them to my actual games 😵‍💫

  6. 4:24 Fool! Always take the queen over checkmate! Can’t make best move if you win the game. 😑

  7. 12:38 “I don’t know why this is called a Dovetail Mate”, immediately draws the dovetail after. 😂

  8. The term boomerang goes far back. Fisher used it to beat a NM.

  9. The "in your face you're trash my rook defeated you mate" is called Vukovic mate
    You're welcome

  10. @17:48
I'd eat the queen a hundred times in this scenario. I need to learn to be patient

  11. The last smothered mate looks like a Greco’s mate

  12. Ima spam Gotham every night and become a gm🤷‍♂️⚒️

  13. Chess is too hard I’ve lost almost 200 in 2 days well done to anyone who can play this game any longer than 1 year

  14. Good old times when Gotham Chess made high-quality content instead of trolling videos that show off how 700-ELO players blunder.

  15. You underestimate 700-800s, either a lot of people is cheating or the pandemic changed a lot the average level at this ELO.

  16. at 17:25 why cant we just sacrifice the queen and mate? Its faster and pretty much the same..

  17. this is why Gotham Chess the GOAT of chess, fr.

  18. Great video to learn how to checkmate in many ways

  19. Thank you for the free coaching, I dropped a like (already subbed).

  20. I did the boomerang technique before without watching

  21. This comes over time as we are obliterated by our opponents and they show us.

  22. At 10:03 on the g7 square, can’t you just move the black knight to h4? That way it attacks the queen aswell as protecting the g7 square? Or am I missing something

  23. yes levvy, evolve me chess player…please😂

  24. Just a theory here: the dovetail mate has possibly a common name due to a dovetail joint in carpentry. The cross connection makes sense

  25. I’ve been hit by the hood ole Greek gift was not fun

  26. INYOURFACEYOURETRASHMYROOKDEFEATEDYOUCHECKMATE

  27. 6:18 Greek gift sacrifice amazing

    Dovetail is pretty good too

    Knight bishop clamp is ok

  28. 12:38 as a creative, literary person with a rich imagination: I think in the mating position (lol! fitting!) the queen is supposed to represent the "dove-tail" of the king, meaning that white's king is the "dove" and the queen becomes the dove's tail protected by the dove that delives the mate. Personally then I would find it more illustrative and fitting to call it the "peacock's tail" then but alas: they don't invite me to the committee that comes up with and decides on titles for moves, tactics and strategies in check! ♟😜
