it's a trap his video how to crush caro kann is better
I've studdied the variations on italian game, the traxler counter attack and queens gambit, I loved the theory behind the Caro-Kann! Definitely the next opening im going to learn, there's so much in consideration
you look like tonny stark
I can imagine advanced chess as a University degree.
How do I defend against 4.Bb5+ in the advance variation?
I just got accused of cheating because of this video🤣🤣🤣
@GotahmChess have something in the moves is not right xD
"If you're like 1700 or below, nobody knows what they're doing!"
Me who's facing 200 players that are gods:
I really love this opening I've been playin the "boxbox" bot and I lost all my games with white and I've decided to play this opening against him I won with my first try
wow, Ill start playing caro kann, as a 900 I think my repertoire is
Giocco Pianno
London System
Englund Gambit
That thing when they wnat to schoolars mate you, I know it pretty damn well XD.
and now I can add caro kann
to be honest tho, gucci piano and london are just plain following of principles, its not like I saw a video of them like I did with the englund or now the caro.
Made it 32 minutes and man that’s beautiful
the caro kann failed me against a 1000, it sucks
Levy, Eric Rosen posted an anti caro kann system for white. How can us CK players counter anti CK lines?
Notes for self
– it is against e4 (white)
– first move is c6 followed by d5
1:20 – double white pawns in the middle
Advanced Variation 1, but not recommended by Levy (White pushes pawn to e5)= 1:31
–> Advanced Variation 2, but Levy recommends this = 2:30
– pawn takes 2:40
– Nf3 2:52
– After light sq. bishop pins knight 3:20
– If light sq. bishop is attacked 3:42
– white bishop to f4 4:26
– if white pawn to c3 after central pawns 4:43
–> Exchange Variation 5:47
If white normally develops 6:08 (not exactly exchange variation)
Actual Exchange Variation 8:17
–> Panov Variation (white pawn to c4) 6:50
Recommended by Levy under Panov Variation – feincatto 7:30
–> If they leave the e4 pawn there 8:36
-> Classical Variation 1 (Knight defends e4) 9:23
-> once the knight exchange occurs 10:35
-> they play h3 11:03
-> they don't play h3 11:44
-> Classical Variation 2 12:06
-> Fantasy Variation (white pawn to f3) 12:44
-> risky attack for black 13:49 (mate in 7)
-> Two knights variation after white pawn to e4 14:26
fun fact: Hikaru once said during a game with Levy that he's playing the stupid caro-kann once again. Levy was so offended that he proceeded to defeat Hikaru…
Just don't mess with Levy and his caro kann
what if white move two goes queen H5.
I crush the caro with 1 e4…c6 2 f4..d5 3 e5…Bf5 4. d4..e6 5 Nf3
No Gotham subscribers were hurt in making of this video.
Pp
I played a game with Caro-Kann and it worked as a charm thank you so much lavy for the great content
Hey! Don't spose you could make a video about when they play e4, then c4 like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U43qc4v9wC4 ? Had my first tournement yesterday and someone crushed me with it
1:30 Opponent pushes pawn to e5
– 1:39 Bf5 (More advanced)
– 2:28 c5 (simpler and recommended)
– 4:24 If opponent plays Bf4
5:45 Exchange Variation
– 6:45 c4 variant
– 8:15 Main line
8:34 Ignoring your D pawn
8:46 Defending their E pawn
– 9:22 Nd2/Nc3
– 11:02 White plays h3 (Free mate)
– 11:44 If White does not play h3
– 12:04 Classical Variation with Bf5
12:45 Fantasy Variation
– 13:08 What to do the moment white touches the e4 pawn
– 13:45 e5 line (Risky attack on the diagonal to f2)
14:25 Two Knights Variation
2:28 im a 900-1100 player (varies every couple weeks), and at 900-1000 nobody takes that stupid pawn. They're too scared it's a trap and always defend with c3 lmao
great teacher! i'm not a caro kan player, i'm a frence player, but i think i should switch my opening agaisnt e4.thanks!
Watch this video, open up chess to try it out, opponent second move Queen f3, brain.exe stopped working
“a bit of a rating imbalance”
I watch this entire video then I go into a game and completely forget what I just learned 😭
11:34 what if Qe2 insted of Be2
10:27
Magnus did what?
he lost me when he said play "normal" chess
صوتك واسلوب كلامك اعجبني جدا
Just finished this and won from first try!
I really like that defence because not only the structure is easy to memorize, but also most of the plans, whice is the most important thing when you learn a new chess opening.
This makes so much more sense than the old caro kann vid
Please do another e4 rating climb!
You really made me want to go analyze that horsie move on 29:30 !

Between Siekecki's short and sweet course on Chessable and Levy's high level summaries here, I've been doing quite well with the Caro. Recently switched from playing Modern/Pirc. It seems that in my old age, I do better playing solidly these days. 😆
Mate! It's insane how great full I am that you exist and make these damn videos. If I had started chess a few years earlier it would have been a lot harder to know all these things. People should be crazy thankful that you make these videos. It shows how much you prepare for this. Thanks again man.. just started but I'm studying your video's very closely!
The f-yan-ketto
If your opponent plays Bd3 after (1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5), then you play Nf6 immediately losing the game falling for the Landau Gambit
hey.. would it be a good idea if I memorise some of the games that are played in Caro Kahn?
such good content and explanation….really enjoy how you give multiple scenarios…just like in any match…you never know what your opponent will do next!
I came here after watching the Scandinavian defense video in which Levy suggests following the Caro Kann in the event that they advance instead of taking my d5 pawn.
I’ll test it in a few games later but I’m wondering if I should skip the move c6 and just go straight for c5 to match his recommendation here or if there’s a reason I’m not seeing for entering the standard 2nd move position of the Karo Cann defense that we see before he makes his suggestion of advancing to c5.
If anyone has any insight I’d love to hear it, otherwise I’m sure I’ll eventually find out on my own.
Thank you
theres a rating imbalance, yes, but you can do this too!!! hahaha
I am not sure. The engine said c6 is an inaccuracy otherwise I played a perfect game.
Oh weird so I recognized this pyramid structure from the London when I played against it but I didn’t know what it was called. I had been calling it the Black London System. 🤔
12:35 books also still exist my dude ☝️🤓
You shoulda dedicated your new do not resign video to Eric lol
i learnt a lot, tx!
