  1. I don’t usually play Caro-Kann as black, but it’s useful to know the theory because I sometimes transpose into it with the sequence that is d4 d5, followed by e4 and c6.

  2. Ive found it hard learning some openings in lower elo because the enemies moves arent always the most logical so the responses can range greatly.

  3. Caro-Kahn, I'm about 1100, and everybody against me in games makes it difficult to win, despite your advice! Caro-Kahn is just too well known man!

  4. Gotham : you need to be patient with the moves.
Me : runs out of time.

  5. Ey I‘m 2000 Not 1700 but understand. Great Video man

  6. I always hear a slight French Canadian accent to Levi's speech, despite the fact he was born in Brooklyn…

  7. I lose 70% of my games as black so I'm here lol

  8. Thanks. I adopted this defense about 2 months ago and have had terrific results, especially with your recommended early C5 move. I'm sure I'll run into an expert sooner or later that knows how to deal with it but at my level it's producing great results. The only thing I have had to adjust to is castling later than I usually do, but the action in the center and queenside usually dominates the early game. Thanks again!

  9. Thanks a lot. That’s great teaching and playing

  10. done 2 games with the caro kann as my kings indian eventually kept losing. 2-0 with the caro kann right now :O

  11. In the position at 21:08 why not play Nd3, it both attacks the bishop on c1 and prevents it from threatening check/ rook on f4

  12. So what happens if white queen moves to D2? Doesn't that ruin the whole bishop to G4 strategy?

  13. love these videos where you play live and explain.
    shows how you think.

  14. came here just because a guy played the caro kann, i played the standard push, and the game ended when he resigned after blundering a rook, since he had no idea how to play the caro kann (not that I had any idea, either)

  15. I needed a quick refresh of the opening in a few minutes and it did the job, Thanks levy!

  16. Without a doubt one of my favorite videos I've seen on the Caro Kann. For some reason I play at a higher rating in Rapid than correspondence !! You make these decisions look so easy. I'm somewhere between a 1500 to 1700. I have a repertoire that I'm comfortable with black or white, but I know to improve, I need to learn more theory on what I do play. The books. I just don't know anymore. I think I've just purchased the wrong ones save for a few. Tnx Levi, NY'er here too. Hope to see you one day. Peace.

  17. Thanks for both your content and your energy. I really find your channel useful.

  18. This video is freaking good, thanks Gotham!

  19. I'm fairly new to chess and watching opening videos of various types. What is the difference between this opening and whites London opening. They look the same to me. Is this just the London played on the black side but called something else?

  20. Helloooooo, I am in that 1900 and below 🤣 this is why I am here to learn

  21. Very well explained videos ,and informative ,thanks

  22. love your energy, your teach with passion, it feels good having you as a teacher through youtube

  23. How do you create the arrows? I now you have been asked this before so I apologize, I feel like its in the settings, or a third party extension?

  24. Hi ! I watched your Caro Kann video and took notes and used it today for a big win against some dude from a country with a green flag ,and it worked great .Thanks much and will be watching your videos a lot .
Good luck on your up coming matches .take them all out ,you have a lot of knowledge in chess !

  25. I use that in a bullet game and I play it when I was in white not black I won in time I almost lost

  26. What if after 5:47 when we take back he starts playing london opening sort of thing? I mean I'm very addictive to london. Is there any way we can break the london system?

  27. I'm surprised he didn't advertise the Botez Variation

  28. Man, you really put together great video tutorials. I have watched hundreds of videos to learn how to do everything from stucco to replacing brakes and rotors; yours are the best! You speak well, you’re entertaining and you don’t hesitate to compliment an opponent if he/she makes a good move.

  29. Was looking to see which YouTuber dropped a new video recommending 2.Nf3 against the Caro as that seems to be all I get lately. Guess it’s not you Gotham lol. Rosen I’m coming for you next hahahaha

  30. I learned this opening from your channel and I am at 75% win rate with this opening.. thanks Levy

  31. Just subscribed and liked this video. YOU ARE THE BATMAN of the chess for beginners. Hands down this is the best Caro-Kann video for beginners and intermediates. I love how you went through the theory and played a couple real games. This what makes this channel and your methods more natural. It's all about learning by doing. When you played the moves against a real person it just makes a big difference for me as a learner. Otherwise the theories are just the book moves. Keep it up.

  32. This guy is amazing!! I started at 12 yrs. old too…lol

  33. just take a random opening and a random colour and just crush your opponents 😉

  34. So what is the best move for black if white plays knightc3 on move 3?

  35. "Just play reasonable and logical chess, and don't go insane." Best advice. Lol.

  36. Really good stuff. Been wondering for quite some time now about different ways to play Advance, Main Line or Panov-Botvinnik Xchange, and Fantasy variations so—Eureka!—here it is in a nutshell. So now Advance will be met with …c5, Main Line with Tartakower (4…Nf6), P-B with rapid Knight development, and Fantasy with super-solid 3…e6. These had been covered more sketchily in a ten-minute viddy a year before but this fleshes things out nicely. Thanks Gotham, you got a new sub. Cheers from a fellow Caro-Cann lover (although as a mere A player it's more like Caro-Can't, haw!).
