Magnus Carlsen Invented A New Chess Opening

Magnus Carlsen Invented A New Chess Opening – The Plough! Magnus Carlsen repeatedly played pawn to h4, which I’m calling the plough, in Titled Tuesday Chess, 7th November, late tournament on chess.com. Alireza Firouzja was his opponent in this epic game of chess.

  1. It is not the invention of Magnus, it was first used regularly by the hungarian chess master Kádas, and the opening holds his name.

  2. Wesley could not do this to Alireza

  3. Magnus does Magnus things.
I wouldn't call anything he does "an opining"

  4. Rhymes with Cow …opening. think he wants to court Anna C.

  5. Observing the game is interesting. The "analytical(?)" commentary was abysmal. FYI – moving the black knights forward IS "development" of black's pieces.

  6. What the eff?? I was doing this years ago and chess nerd told me it was stupid /:l I knew I was on to something 😢

  7. I'm not going to try the plough because I know how it's going to end.

  8. I used that opening when I first started playing. I would play against my father and use it to move my rook early. They didn't invent this D:<

  9. seems like in blitz playing a provocative move in the opening can throw off your opponent. All they need to do is still to good opening principles but when you have no book to rely on you might feel tempted to respond by trying to punish the weird opening right away just to end up under-developed or over-extended.

  10. While the video is great, I was disappointed somehow since the title mislead me. I was expecting to see an explanation how Magnus "plows" something somehow in the most standard refutation (inventing a new white move somewhere down the main line). Instead this very special response made it a special game.

  11. I PLAYED THAT FIRST MOVE LIKE TWO YEARS AGO (but instead I move my rook out lololol)

  12. If you try to play this opening, the only one getting plowed, is you.

  13. Magnus began cheating after this dude got caught cheating. Convince me otherwise

  14. There were a few times id have gine for a check early

  15. Magnus the boss. His name should officially changed to MAGNUS. in all capitals

  16. Alright you're the white grandmaster as you feed on vomit(A 2) and black (A 1)loses to nothing more to real

  17. Don't say "they agreed to a draw" or something that's not true during the video with a straight face like that

  18. I did the plow on my girlfriend. She said she really liked it.

  19. I invented that opening when I first started playing chess at 3! I … specialized in a different line though. Might have inolved sacrificing the exchange early on to … get the opponent out of book! Yeah, that was the olan!

  20. Noob plays this, "what an idiot"

    Magnus plays this, "Genius!"

  21. You really had me with the draw bit I can't lie.

  22. I remember trying out the ol' Plow opening on my wedding night.

  23. Those photos make their foreheads look so big.

  24. Oh so when Magnus does it he 'invented a new opening', but when I do it I 'should go read Nimzowitsch'

  25. i would neen a fire engine ladder to watch that , it is so far above my level

  26. Me playing this opening with 248 elo in 2020: 🤡

  27. Why not decline copying and going with a more traditional center opening? Is there not a center opening that stays safe from a possible early rook attack?

  28. Very nice video, but the obvious issue is after 1. h4, the computer response is 1. ,e5: take the center. Responding a3 simply returns the initiative to white.

  29. so westerners found our famous Beaver Claw opening and gave it dumb name. For anyone who think its original opening: it's meme joke opening created years ago by one FM roaming around chesscom and crushing masters in his streams by this thing or by Grob opening in multiple variants

  30. surprising how aggressive he came at mag

  31. “Here the players agree to a draw” 😂😂😂😂

  32. Well I'm just a rookie, playing against a novice level computer program, but I don't see why anyone would be so foolish as to respond to Magnus' opening move by moving their A and B pawns – it's obvious that if he moves his H pawn first, you grab the centre with your D and E pawns.
Here, they gave him the centre for free, so he may be brilliant, but that's not why he won this game – he won because his opponent suffered brain-fade, seemingly phased by a wierd opening move that even my basic level chess program doesn't fall for!

  33. So it's basically doing a lil bit of tomfoolery with h4 because he can and then a regular game. Got it.

  34. Interesting to see how a top player deals with a situation where there is a pawn gridlock in the center of the board and all of your opponent's pieces are protected.

  35. Nothing like a royal fork to end the game.

  36. That "the players agree to a draw" part got me good 😂

  37. I play chess. A lot. I’m rated at like 900ish. I don’t even understand GM play. Like it’s so ridiculous.

  38. The plow… man wanted to play black as white

  39. From the beginner level to the very top, if your pieces aren't activated…aka, "DEAD WOOD" and not quickly out in the field fighting, you're strangling yourself.

  40. Ok. But it cant be better than the cow – opening. xD

  41. He did give him the center but some foreshadowing with the pawns on g, some of that's blitz play, but it's a moving painting wow, who plays like that, except Phisher lol.
